Dhaka: Bangladesh T20 and Test captain Shakib Al Hasan is set to be banned for 18 months by the International Cricket Council for not reporting a corrupt approach, according to several media reports.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell spoke to reporters about the allegation against Shakib at the secretariat on Tuesday.
He said, “We have heard about the allegation. Whatever the decision of the ICC comes to, we will stand beside Shakib. We will try to ensure that Shakib does not face any problem.”
Bangladesh will travel India for the upcoming T20I and Test tour of India, scheduled to start on November 3 with the first T20I in Delhi.
