Dhaka: The authorities of Election Commission (EC) is now set to allocate the electoral symbols to the final candidates for contesting in the 11th parliamentary election to be held on December 30.
The EC would allocate the electoral symbols today as the last day of withdrawal of candidature was expired yesterday (Dec 9).
A total of 3,065 aspirants submitted their nomination papers till the last date of submitting nominations on November 28 as a total of 39 registered political parties are going to take part in polls, according to election officials.
The EC sources said, the returning officers accepted 2,279 nomination papers and cancelled 786 papers. Later, 543 aspirants appealed to the EC while of the petitions, a total of 243 applications have been so far accepted for the contest.
Earlier yesterday, BNP submitted a list of 298 candidates of the party and its alliance partners of Jatiya Oikyafront and the 20-partry to the Election Commission (EC).
According to BNP insiders, the party has shared 19 seats with Oikyafront’s components and 39 with its 20 party partners, including 22 with Jamaat.
