Dhaka: BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has asked her party leaders and activists to remain united and not to walk into any trap.

After meeting the party chief in jail, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told journalists: “Khaleda Zia has asked the leaders and activists not to make any imprudent decision and to remain united in order to foil the conspiracy against the party.”

Mentioning that the police and the ruling party members are making plots against the party, he further said: “The police and Awami League men are trying to make various plots in order to turn BNP's peaceful protest programmes into violent ones. The party chief has asked her fellows to remain calm and show restraint.”

“She displayed great mental strength despite serving a five-year jail sentence. She is ready to make any sacrifices for the countrymen,” he added.

Earlier in the day, an eight-member BNP delegation met Khaleda in the old jail in the capital.
