Thieves broke into a Bangladeshi-owned candy store in Jackson Heights in the dead of night and stole goods worth more than a thousand dollar. The thief couldn't find the cash box, so he saved at least $12,000.

The owner of the shop, Professor Rafiqul Islam, closed the shop at 2 am on Tuesday and went home. When he came to open the shop at 9 in the morning, he saw that the thieves had broken into the shop and taken away many items. In the morning, the police came and conducted an on-the-spot investigation and took away all the information.

Rafiqul Islam, a well-known figure in the Bangladeshi community in New York and former president of the Bangladesh Nationalist Forum, was shocked by the theft at his shop. He said, I work till late at night (2 o'clock) and go back home. When I came to open the shop as usual in the morning, I saw a corner of the shop was smashed. When I opened it, I saw that the thief had ransacked the shop and taken away a lot of goods. As an instant one, we can say that goods worth $1,200 have been lost. Of course, I am not yet sure about the damage.
