Dhaka: Election Commissioner Kabita Khanam paid a courtesy call on National Parliament Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, MP at the latter’s office in Dhaka on Wednesday.
During the meeting, they discussed about the recent workshop organized by the Election Commission to resolve the complexities of registration of parents of unidentified persons, Narayanganj City Corporation Election and other relevant issues.
The Speaker said that the workshop organised by the Election Commission has played a vital role by mainstreaming of marginalised people and establishing of basic human rights.
The Speaker hoped that the complication in ensuring the civic benefits of the parents of all marginalized communities including persons with disabilities, transgender and tea workers would be resolved.
Election Commissioner Kabita Khanam said that with the efforts of all, the Narayanganj City Corporation election and other elections are being conducted smoothly. She mentioned that the Election Commission is working efficiently to ensure fair elections.
Relevant officials of the Parliament Secretariat were present at the time.
