Dhaka: Bangladesh has registered 258 new deaths from coronavirus or Covid-19 in a day, a new record, raising the total toll from the infection to 19,779.
The caseload surged to 1,194,752 after 14,925 people diagnosed with the virus until 8:00 am on Tuesday, according to latest information of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The death rate now stands at 1.66 percent.
The current positivity rate is 28.44 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 15.81 percent.
Bangladesh saw tests of some 52,478 samples in the last 24 hours.
Besides, the country saw recovery of 12,439 Covid-19 patients during the period.
As of now, the total number of recoveries is 10,22,414 while the recovery rate stands at 85.58 percent.
