News Desk: Former Director General of Bangla Academy, poet, essayist Manzur-I- Maula has died of coronavirus. He was 80.
He breathed his last at 11 am on Sunday while undergoing treatment at the United Hospital in the capital.
According to the Public Relations Department of Bangla Academy, Maula was admitted to United Hospital on December 5 after being diagnosed with coronavirus infection.
Maula, who was the Director General of the Bangla Academy in the early eighties of the last century, served as the secretary of various ministries in his long career.
The Amar Ekushey Book Fair officially started when he was the Director General of the Bangla Academy.
