West Indies are due to arrive in January for three Tests along with three ODIs and two T20Is.
It was learnt that Cricket West Indies (CWI) is planning to wrap the series up as quickly as possible and as a result is not ready to play two T20Is and one Test match in the tour.
BCB Cricket Operations Committee Chairman Akram Khan said that they are waiting for a reply from CWI regarding the upcoming home series but added that there is a possibility that they might have to do away with two T20Is and one Test from the series.
“It’s not that they don’t want to play but they are not ready to stay here for long. In the recent past there was bio-bubble trouble during the England-South Africa as the tour was quite lengthy,” said Akram on Monday.
“There is a possibility that the series will proceed without one Test and two T20’s,” he added.
BCB is looking to reschedule a slew of international series which have been cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic
Meanwhile, according to media reports CWI is yet to confirm the series.
CWI President Ricky Skerritt was quoted on Cricbuzz on Monday that they are yet to take a decision regarding their forthcoming Bangladesh tour adding that they are expected to make a call soon.
“The tour is not finalized,” he stated. “There is no final decision on anything.”
The two-member inspection team from Cricket West Indies recently expressed satisfaction over the COVID-19 and security protocols set by BCB for the series next month. Skerritt added that they have to take everything into consideration before finalising the tour as it comprises too many matches.
“The matter is being finalized this week. We have a very packed schedule ahead in 2021 because of the postponement of so much cricket in 2020,” said Skerritt when asked if they are willing to play only two Tests and three ODIs in the series.
