Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and President Abdul Hamid on Tuesday expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Chitta Ranjan Dutta, Bir Uttam, popularly known as CR Dutta who served as a sector commander during the great Liberation War.
In a condolence message, the President recalled his contribution to the Liberation War. The war hero was awarded ‘Bir Uttam' for his gallantry during the War of Independence.
Hamid said, “The nation will remember CR Dutta forever.”
He prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

The freedom fighter, who was also the president of Bangladesh Hindu Bouddha Christian Oikya Parishad, breathed his last at 9:30am at a hospital in Florida in the USA at the age of 93.
He left behind two daughters, a son and a host of relatives and well-wishers.
