Dhaka: Engineer Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on LGRD and Cooperatives Ministry, has tested positive for Covid-19.
The former LGRD Minister himself confirmed the matter to media on Friday afternoon, reports a Bangla news portal.
Hossain also requested everyone to pray for his recovery.
Hossain became expatriates' welfare minister in 2009 and was later made LGRD Minister in the last tenure of Awami League government.
Currently, he has been working as president of the Standing Committee on LGRD Ministry.
The health authorities of the country has so far reported 105,535 coronavirus cases with the detection of 3,243 new cases in the span of 24 hours on Friday. Besides, 45 more patients died during the same period, raising the death toll to 1,388.
