Dhaka: Veteran historian Prof Muntassir Mamoon has been shifted back to his cabin from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after his condition improved.
Mugda General Hospital Covid-19 Physicians’ Council spokesperson Dr Mahbubur Rahman confirmed the matter on Tuesday morning.
“His condition has improved. Therefore, he has been shifted back to his cabin from the ICU,” he said.
Meanwhile, a six-member medical board has been constituted to oversee the treatment of professor Mamoon.
Prof Monilal Aich, who is leading the hospital's efforts to treat Covid-19 patients, disclosed the development on Tuesday.
Earlier on Monday, the professor was shifted to the ICU of the hospital after his health condition deteriorated.
The 69-year-old Dhaka University history professor was admitted to the hospital on Sunday evening with symptoms similar to Covid-19 infection.
In August 2017, Dhaka University conferred the professor honorary “Bangabandhu Chair” for one-year tenure.
