Dhaka: Nurul Haque Nur, the vice-president of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu), has demanded the resignation of the student body’s General Secretary Golam Rabbani over graft scam.
He made the demand while talking to reporters at his office at Ducsu building on Tuesday, three days after Bangladesh Chhatra League President Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon and General Secretary Golam Rabbani were removed from their respective posts for their alleged involvement with corruption and extortion.
Nur said: “Rabbani has no moral right to remain the GS of Ducsu as he had been relieved from his Bangladesh Chhatra League post after allegations of irregularities brought against him.”
“I have already met DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman and informed him about the matter and urged him to make a decision in this regard,” he added.
Nur further said: “I hope he [Rabbani] will resign soon. If he doesn’t, then we’ll take steps against him.”
