“No written complaint has been filed with the EC in this connection till this afternoon,” he added.
Helal Uddin Ahmed came up with the comments while briefing journalists at Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka today.
“We are not informed about the said attack on Dr Kamal,” he told reporters.
While replying queries he also said: “We will look into the matter and take action if any complaint is filed with the Commission over the incident.”
Earlier, Jatiya Oikyafront’s top leader Dr Kamal Hossain today urged the authorities concerned to create a level-playing field for holding a free, fair and inclusive election in the country.
Pointing to the attack that was allegedly carried out near Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in Mirpur, he also said: “It is a direct insult to the martyrs of the country.”
Dr Kamal Hossain has also asked the government to stop giving illegal orders to the law enforcement agencies and ruling party men during the election.
“Stop giving illegal orders as you (Awami League) are in power only for next 20 days. No one knows what will happen next,” Dr Kamal told the government condemning the attack launched on him.
Dr Kamal Hossain’s motorcade came under attack at Mirpur while returning home after paying tributes to the martyred intellectuals on the Martyred Intellectuals Day today, leaving at least 10 people injured.
Dr Kamal, however, managed to escape the attack unhurt while Oikya Front’s candidate in Dhaka-14 constituency Shahjahan Saju and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President ASM Abdur Rob’s driver were injured during the attack.
