Dhaka: The government is creating a new political crisis over the verdict of grenade attack case of August 21 as the names of Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman were brought in the case, says BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

The leader came up with the allegations at a press conference at the central of BNP in capital’s Nayapaltan area on Monday.

Mirza Fakhrul said: “The government should not include the names of Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman with the case. The people of the country will not tolerate such baseless allegations against them.”

“On the basis of government’s request, the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) issued a red alert against Tarique Rahman in the grenade attack case. Interpol withdrew the red alert after an investigation, conducted from the headquarter of the organisation, on March 14, 2016.”

BNP Standing Committee Member Khonokar Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Abdul Moin Khan, Goyeshor Chandra Ray, Nazrul Islam Khan, Vice President Khondokar Mahbub Hossain and Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi were present at the press conference.

Earlier, the senior leaders of Awami League delivered speeches in several programmes involving Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman with the grenade attack incident.
