“It’s not true that the players are talking amongst themselves regarding the BPL tournament.Rumours were rife that the players always were talking about BPL team during their fitness session which was believed to distract them from the concentration. Batsman Sabbir Rahman denied the allegation, saying the complain is absolutely not true.
All the players in the national team are focused on the fitness camp. The BPL is not in our mind at the moment,” Sabbir said.
“We had a fitness camp last year and that enabled us play eight to nine series over a period of ten to eleven months. So we are focused on it since we have long cricket season coming up.”
The franchisees started contacting to the players as the BPL is approaching. Some of the Icons had already given words to the particular franchise to play for them in the next edition.
Sabbir Rahman was the most valued player of Rajshahi Kings in the last season, a team which roped in Mushfiqur Rahim this season. Sabbir said he is yet to get a team but expected he would get it before he tournament commences.
“I am not thinking about the BPL personally since the process of BPL doesn’t start in another three months.” “To be Icon of a team is a great pleasure. I didn’t think it as a pressure. However I am yet to get a team but hope for the best.”
