Dhaka: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Wednesday said the Election Commission has no capacity to install any party into power.
“BNP is making meaningless comments on the EC to make it controversial… But, the EC has no capacity to put any party in power,” the minister told reporters while visiting mobile court programme in Sign Board area in Narayanganj on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.
Criticizing BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's comments on the EC's role, Quader said the Awami League is not dependent on the Election Commission or any other foreigners to go to power. “The Awami League would like to go to power with the support of common people,” he said.
Quader, also the general secretary of the ruling party, said, “We don't want to make any comments about the EC's roadmap… We want the EC to give equal opportunities to all.” bss
