“Our Prime Minister is passing a busy day here as she attended a number of programmes today and held official talks with her Swedish counterpart,” said PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim.
Sheikh Hasina first visited Swedish Parliament in the morning and held a meeting with acting Speaker Tobias Billstrom, and then had an audience with Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf at the Royal Palace.
Hasina, leading a high-powered team including a 47-member business delegation, then held official talks with her Swedish counterpart Stefan Lofven at the Prime Minister's Office and joined a lunch hosted by the Swedish Prime Minister. Before the talks, the two leaders had a Tete-a-tete. Sheikh Hasina then held meetings with Deputy Prime Minister of Sweden Isabella Lovin at the Deputy Prime Minister's Office while Swedish Minister for Justice and Migration Morgan Johansson made a call on the Prime Minister at the Grand Hotel. Later, she will join a community reception in the evening at the City Conference Center.
On Friday, Hasina is expected to hold meetings with CEO of H&M Karl-Johan Persson and President of Investor Jacob Wallenberg, Vice-President of Investor Marcus Wallenberg and CEO of ABB Sweden Johan Soderstrom. She will also attend and address the Bangladesh-Sweden Business and Investment Forum on Friday.
Earlier on Wednesday night, a red carpet was rolled out as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived here. This is the first-ever bilateral visit by any head of government or state of Bangladesh to Sweden. The Prime Minister is scheduled to return home on June 17 via London. unb
