‘The allocation for the health sector, which is is a very bad shape, is too inadequate to ensure its proper development'
Terming the government an unelected one, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday said the government was trying to impose a massive tax burden on the people through the proposed budget.
He was addressing a discussion at the party’s Naya Paltan central office, which was jointly arranged by Zia Smrity Pathhagar and Jatiyatabadi Prokashana Sangstha, two pro-BNP organisations.
The BNP leader said: “We think the proposed budget will not ensure public welfare. It will become a burden on them, instead.”
About the budgetary allocation on education sector, Fakhrul said: “Despite an increase in the allocation, there is no direction as to how the money will be spent to ensure quality education.”
“The allocation for the health sector, which is is a very bad shape, is too inadequate to ensure its proper development,” he observed.
He alleged that the government has kept aside a huge sum of money for mega projects in the budget just to give the ruling party men a scope to make a quick buck through what he called ‘mega corruption’.
