Veteran actor couple Hasan Imam and Laila Hasan will be honoured with this year’s ‘Bbarta Gold Medal’ in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the cultural arena. Organised by bbarta24.net, the award ceremony will be held at the Sufia Kamal Auditorium of the National Public Library in the capital’s Shahbagh area on May 2. Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu is scheduled to attend the award ceremony as chief guest.
In this regard, an invitation letter signed by Editor of bbarta24.net Bani Yasmin Hasi was sent to the duo on April 23. Syed Hasan Imam said, “We’ve already received the invitation letter. I hope I can attend the occasion to receive the award on May 2. I am thankful to them for honoring us.”
Laila Hasan said, “It is a pleasure that both of us will be honoured on the same occasion. We will be outside of Dhaka, but will attend the ceremony as this will be the first time we are about to get awards together on the same stage. It will be a memorable event for us.”
In addition, eight eminent personalities will also be honoured with gold medals in recognition of their outstanding contributions to their respective fields.
The list of awardees includes Tayyab Khan (Journalist), Dr Dipu Moni (Politics), State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak (Digital ICT), successful entrepreneur Abdur Razzak, Iftekharuzzaman (Economics), Mabia Akhter Simanta (Sports), Sumaiya Binte Mahtab (Research) and Mahabub Ara Begum Gini.
Presided over by Bani Yasmin Hasi, the award ceremony will be coordinated by Ovi Moinuddin and Mousumi Islam.
To note, The ‘Bbarta Gold Medal’ is an effort that was introduced last year to recognise eminent personalities who made enormous contributions to their respective fields.
