News desk: A German delegation, now in Dhaka to join the 136th assembly of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), met Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament and CPA executive committee Chairperson Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Monday.
The visiting delegation was led by President of the Bundestag (National Parliament of Germany) Prof Dr Lammert Norbert during the meeting held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, the venue of the five-day IPU assembly.
During the meeting, Dr Shirin who is also the IPU assembly president thanked the German delegation for joining the mega event.
The Speaker informed the visiting team about the Bangladesh Parliament and other issues like socioeconomic empowerment of women, social safety programmes and international terrorism.
Dr Lammert said a friendly relation has long been prevailing between Bangladesh and Germany, as Bangladesh is a true friend and development partner of Germany.unb
