Dhaka desk: Appellate Division of the Supreme Court upheld death penalty on Mufti Hannan for attempting to kill British envoy to Bangladesh in 2004.
A 3-member Appellate Division bench led by Chief Justice SK Sinha passed the verdict on Sunday.
The other 2 death row convicts are Harkatul Jihad Al Islami Bangladesh members Shahedul Alam alias Bipul and Delowar Hossain alias Ripon.
The trio tried to assassinate Anwar Chowdhury, the then British envoy, at the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal in Sylhet on 21st May of 2004. Anwar survived the attack, but 3 people were killed.
