Dhaka desk: Former advisor to the caretaker government Akbar Ali Khan said no search committee has been successful in past ten years to pick right persons for the formation of the election commission.It was possible for the search committee to recommend proper names but it failed to do the job, he lamented.
Akbar Ali made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural cenremony of ‘UCB Public Parliament-2017' on Saturday morning.
Private TV channel ATN Bangla and United Commercial Bank jointly organised it at the Film Development Corporation (FDC).
“The persons, who are not members of any political parties or its associated bodies, should be given appointment to the election commission. The persons with experience and no controvercy should be appointed,” Akbar Ali pointed out.
He said the political parties cannot take decision whether elections will be held under the caretaker government or not.
People can decide it through a referendum, Akbar observed.
