Dhaka desh: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) chief Oli Ahmed today said they informed a 17-point proposal to the president during discussions over reconstitution of the new Election Commission.
Oli Ahmed was speaking with journalists after the meeting with President Abdul Hamid held at Bangabhaban this afternoon.
The proposals they presented include formulating a law on reconstitution of the EC and appointing the chief election commissioner and other commissioners upon agreement among the political parties.
The party also placed a proposal for forming a five-member search committee to advise the names of possible candidates to be appointed as the CEC and other ECs, Oli Ahmed said.
The president assured them that he would do his best to dismiss the lack of understanding among the political parties and prepare a framework to reconstitute an acceptable EC, the LDP chief added.
