ana-pic-1bornomalanews: It’s really pathetic that the current government of Bangladesh is denying proper recognition of the late President Ziaur Rahman, the founder of multi-party democracy in the country. This was the remark made by Joe Moore, deputy mayor of Chicago city council, in the 2nd anniversary ceremony of the honorary Ziaur Rahman Way in Chicago. The BNP leaders of Chicago said the government dared not face Ziaur Rahman and his family  politically and therefore today it’s conspiring to destroy the Zia family. They warned that it would never be possible to erase Zia’s name off his homeland.

In the anniversary organized by Illinois and Chicago City BNP held on October 3, the speakers said that despite a lawsuit filed by the US Awami League, the city council stood by their decision to give the Clark Street in Chicago the honorary name of Ziaur Rahman Way. Presided over by Shah Mozammel Nantu, president of Chicago City BNP, the program had Joe Moore, deputy mayor of Chicago city councilor and president of Illinois democratic party, and Mushfiqul Fazal Ansari, assistant press secretary of former prime minister Khaleda Zia deliver the welcome speeches.  Conducted by Nargis Akter Daisy, general secretary of Chicago BNP, and Dulu Mia, organizing  secretary, the program was attended by, among others, Selim Ahmed, general secretary of Michigan BNP, and Shah Mosaddeq Mintu, chief advisor of Chicago BNP.
