Humayun Rashid, a veteran worshiper of the mosque, was acquitted of allegations of terrorist activities by the mosque committee. The Hon'ble Judge of the Bronx County Criminal Court has dismissed a case filed against Humayun Rashid, a resident of North Bronx, New York, on behalf of the mosque committee, alleging terrorist activities.<\/p>\n

On January 10, the court acquitted Humayun Rashid and ordered to seal the case file (docket number of the case – ‘CR-00896-21BX').<\/p>\n

Humayun Rashid said he had complained to the mosque committee after the Asr prayers at the North Bronx Islamic Center on May 21 last year that the imam who led the prayers was not a surah. He should not be given the responsibility of Imamate anymore. After leaving the mosque, the chairman of the mosque committee Syed Jamin Ali told Humayun Rashid not to come to the mosque if he did not like it. The matter was settled on the same day with the help of local elders and others.<\/p>\n

Humayun Rashid said that three days after the incident, the police raided his house in a commando style. At that time, the police did not find her at home and told her daughter that her father should contact 52 police precincts. He later called the police precinct and was informed that there were allegations of terrorist attacks against him. On June 1, he went to the police precinct and hired a lawyer. He was arrested after going to the precinct and was produced in court a few hours later. Hon'ble court granted him bail.<\/p>\n

Humayun Rashid said that after 6 months of the case, on January 10, the Hon'ble Court acquitted him and ordered to seal the documents.<\/p>\n

Bornomalanews.com tried to contact Syed Jamin Ali, president of the mosque committee, but could not find him. Muhammad Iqbal Hossain, secretary general of the North Bronx Islamic Center, said Humayun Rashid, a worshiper, had asked the imam to leave the mosque or else threatened to destroy the mosque. Unable to locate the matter locally, the mosque committee later informed the local police precinct and the police came to the spot and took necessary action.
