Farooque\u2019s wife Farhana Pathan said to media that the actor\u2019s health condition is improving gradually. In the last week of March, he lost his consciousness and has been given treatment in ICU. He is out of risk now, she informed.<\/p>\n
In the first week of March, Farooque went to Singapore for regular health check-up and was diagnosed with posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES), septicemia, and pseudomonas. He has been receiving treatment in Singapore\u2019s Mount Elizabeth Hospital since then.
\nActor Farooque, who is also a freedom fighter, film producer, and businessman, was elected MP from Dhaka-17 constituency in the last national election.<\/p>\n
Farooque appeared in over 150 films in a career spanning more than five decades. Most of his films were commercially and critically successful. He is one of the most recognisable stars of the classical and golden era of Bangladeshi film industry.<\/p>\n
He was the first artiste selected for the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for the film \u2018Lathial\u2019 in 1975 but he declined to receive the award. In addition, he was awarded the Bangladesh National Film Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2016.<\/p>\n
\u00a0As one of the most dominant actors in the Bangladeshi movie scene during the 1970s, 1980s and early 1990s, Farooque is widely considered as one of the greatest and influential actors in the history of Bangladeshi cinema.<\/p>\n
Farooque came to silver screen spot light in 1971 with the movie \u2018Jolchobi\u2019.<\/p>\n
