\nDonald Trump from the platform \u201cindefinitely\u201d due to his efforts to
\nincite violence at the US Capitol, chief executive Mark Zuckerberg
\nsaid Thursday.<\/p>\n

Zuckerberg said the 24-hour ban announced Wednesday on Trump\u2019s
\naccounts including on Instagram was extended because of Trump\u2019s \u201cuse
\nof our platform to incite violent insurrection against a
\ndemocratically elected government.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Facebook CEO added: \u201cThe shocking events of the last 24 hours
\nclearly demonstrate that President Donald Trump intends to use his
\nremaining time in office to undermine the peaceful and lawful
\ntransition of power to his elected successor, Joe Biden.\u201d<\/p>\n

The announcement came the day after the outgoing US leader was
\nlocked out of all major social media platforms due to his false claims
\nabout the legitimacy of his loss to Biden, and for inciting the angry
\nmob that stormed the US Capitol.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe the risks of allowing the President to continue to use
\nour service during this period are simply too great,\u201d Zuckerberg wrote
\non his Facebook page.<\/p>\n

\u201cTherefore, we are extending the block we have placed on his
\nFacebook and Instagram accounts indefinitely and for at least the next
\ntwo weeks until the peaceful transition of power is complete.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s favorite megaphone, Twitter, blocked him for 12 hours, but
\nit was unclear Thursday if the ban had been lifted.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Snapchat suspension \u2013<\/p>\n

Snapchat confirmed Thursday that it locked Trump out of the photo
\nsharing platform amid concerns over his dangerous rhetoric.<\/p>\n

The social media announcements came after Trump\u2019s supporters
\nstormed the US Capitol on Wednesday in an unprecedented attack that
\nled to one woman being shot and killed by police, interrupting the
\nnormally ceremonial procedure to certify Biden\u2019s election victory.<\/p>\n

Trump, who had addressed the mob and urged them to march on the
\nCapitol, later released a video on social media in which he repeated
\nthe false claim of election fraud \u2014 even telling the mob \u201cwe love
\nyou.\u201d<\/p>\n

YouTube removed the video in line with its policy barring claims
\nchallenging election results.<\/p>\n

Twitter said Trump\u2019s messages were violations of the platform\u2019s
\nrules on civic integrity and that any future violations \u201cwill result
\nin permanent suspension of the @realDonaldTrump account.\u201d<\/p>\n

The messaging platform said Trump\u2019s account would be locked for 12
\nhours and that if the offending tweets were not removed, \u201cthe account
\nwill remain locked.\u201d<\/p>\n

Critics of the online platforms argued they moved too slowly as
\nWednesday\u2019s violence was organized on social media, directing their
\nire at Zuckerberg and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve got blood on your hands, @jack and Zuck,\u201d tweeted Chris
\nSacca, an early Facebook investor who has become one of its harshest
\ncritics.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor four years you\u2019ve rationalized this terror. Inciting violent
\ntreason is not a free speech exercise. If you work at those companies,
