In a tweet, UN Resident Coordinator in Bangladesh Mia Seppo said, \u201cAs Bangladesh celebrates the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, we recall his UNGA speech where he urged stronger commitment to equitable rights, world peace and justice for everyone, everywhere. A message as relevant today as it was in 1974.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also shared a photo which shows Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman addressing the United Nations Assembly on September 25 in\u00a01974.\"UN<\/p>\n

Earlier, the United States and the United Kingdom paid tributes to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on his 100th birth anniversary.<\/p>\n

In a tweet, the US Department of State said, \u201cToday, we celebrate our long friendship with Bangladesh as we honour the 100th anniversary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman\u2019s birth.\u201d<\/p>\n

The State Department also shared a photo which shows Bangabandhu with President Ford in the Oval Office in 1974.<\/p>\n

While British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Chatterton Dickson in a Facebook post on the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman said, \u201cRelationship between UK and Bangladesh has been strong and close since 1971\u201d.<\/p>\n

The High Commissioner also shared a photo which shows Bangabandhu with The Queen and Edward Heath, UK PM and the first world leader he met after liberation.<\/p>\n
