Today's SC verdict proved that the International Crimes Tribunal has rightly sentenced him.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">&#8220;I am satisfied with the verdict as through this Bangladesh has moved one step ahead towards establishing the rule of justice in the country,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">He hoped that the people of the country are also satisfied with the Supreme Court verdict.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) upheld the death penalty of Jamaat-e-Islami leader ATM Azharul Islam for war crimes during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">A four-member Appellate bench, led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, handed down the verdict today.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dhaka: Jamaat-e-Islami leader ATM Azharul Islam, who has been handed down death penalty for committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War, will be executed on completion of all the legal procedure, said Law Minister Anisul Huq.
