{"id":45649,"date":"2018-07-18T04:53:07","date_gmt":"2018-07-18T04:53:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/?p=45649"},"modified":"2018-07-18T04:53:07","modified_gmt":"2018-07-18T04:53:07","slug":"students-seek-du-proctors-resignation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/?p=45649","title":{"rendered":"Students seek DU proctor\u2019s resignation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img class=\"wp-image-45650 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/170309kalerkantho_pic-300x181.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"968\" height=\"584\" srcset=\"https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/170309kalerkantho_pic-300x181.jpg 300w, https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/170309kalerkantho_pic-768x464.jpg 768w, https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/170309kalerkantho_pic-696x420.jpg 696w, https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/170309kalerkantho_pic.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 968px) 100vw, 968px\" \/>Dhaka: A group of students of Dhaka University has sought the resignation of Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani for his \u201cfailure\u201d in providing security to the general students of the university.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Abu Raihan, a\u00a0student of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, submitted a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor of the university,\u00a0Prof Akhteruzzaman, seeking the resignation of the proctor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Earlier in the day, several students under the banner of \u2018Students against repression\u2019 brought out a rally from the foot of Aparajeyo Bangla around 1 pm and marched towards the VC office.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In response, DU VC\u00a0said the memorandum will be sent to the probe committee and the committee will take the decision in this regard.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Meanwhile, a group of teachers under the banner of \u2018Teachers against repression\u2019 held a press conference at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) on the campus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">They demanded punishment of those involved in the recent attacks on teachers and students.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">They also announced that a \u2018teachers\u2019 solidarity assembly\u2019 will be held at the foot of Aparajeyo Bangla around 11 am on July 19.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Besides, a cultural programme against repression will also be held at Kalabhaban on July 23.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Earlier on Sunday, quota movement activists and DU teachers came under attack while they were staging a human chain demonstration on the Central Shaheed Minar premises, demanding immediate release of the arrested quota movement leaders and punishment for the attackers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dhaka: A group of students of Dhaka University has sought the resignation of Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani for his \u201cfailure\u201d in providing security to the general students of the university.
