Dhaka: Students and teachers of International Relations of Dhaka University formed a human chain on the campus protesting the assault on\u00a0 Associate Professor of the department Mohammad Tanzimuddin Khan and two other teachers of the university allegedly by BCL men.<\/p>\n
Carrying placards inscribed with different message including \u201cwhy teachers are assaulted\u201d and \u201cWe want justice\u201d the teachers and students under the banner of \u2018Students of International Relations\u2019 formed the human chain in front of Social Science faculty around 11am.<\/p>\n
They demanded exemplary punishment of the attackers, according to UNB reports.<\/p>\n
Professor Dr. Md Abdul Mannan, associate, Lecturers Lamea Momen and Md. Ali Siddiquee were present at the human chain.<\/p>\n
They also brought out a protest procession on the campus.<\/p>\n
Tanzimuddin Khan,\u00a0 Professor Fahmidul Haq and Associate Professor Abdur Razzaque Khan of Mass Communication and Journalism Department and some quota movement activists were assaulted allegedly by leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) during their human chain programme at the Central Shaheed Minar premises on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Besides, teachers and students of Economics Department of the university formed another human chain protesting assault on two students by three Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists and demanding safe campus.<\/p>\n
Professor M M Akash of the department said the attack on the students by the BCL activists in broad daylight is not tolerable. He demanded expulsion of the attackers.<\/p>\n
\u201c It is duty of the university administration to ensure\u00a0 security on the campus. If they fail, they should resign. They should also ensure students\u2019 freedom of speech.\u201d<\/p>\n
Earlier on Saturday evening, some BCL activists beat up two students of Economics Department of Dhaka University in front of Surya Sen Hall.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
