\"\"Dhaka: President of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury on Saturday said tensions have been prevailing among the leaders and activists of both Awami League and BNP over the government to be formed through the next polls.<\/p>\n

\u201cBNP activists are deeply worried thinking about their future if the ruling party returns to power\u2026some ruling party activists also come to us and say what if BNP returns to power. Is it a good sign for the future of the country?\u201d he questioned.<\/p>\n

B Chowdhury came up with the remark at an Iftar party arranged by BNP.<\/p>\n

The BDB chief further said, \u201cThe current situation indicates that we may reach a point when there will be violence, people will kill and get killed, assaulted and jailed.<\/p>\n

But who will stop it? I just give you (politicians) a line of thinking.\u201d<\/p>\n

B Chowdhury, also a former President, said a force is now crucial which will be able to control both Awami League and BNP. \u201cThe country can be saved from a disastrous situation if only such a force can come to power.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the absence of party chairperson Khaleda Zia, BNP hosted the iftar party in honur of politicians at the city\u2019s Ladies Club on the second day of the fasting month of Ramadan.<\/p>\n

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and party standing committee members received the guests and exchanged pleasantries with them.<\/p>\n

Khaleda used to host iftar for the politicians during Ramadan every year.<\/p>\n

The chair of the chief guest of the BNP\u2019s iftar the programme was kept vacant as Khaleda is now in jail.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the occasion, Fakhrul said they hosted the programme with a broken heart this year as their chairperson is now in jail.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur leader (Khaleda) is not present toady among us. She has to take iftar solitarily in jai as she was sent there in a false and conspiratorial case,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Mentioning that the country is passing through a critical time under the rule of the current government, the BNP leader hoped the national leaders will play an important role in overcoming it.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe think a national unity is now crucial to resolve the crisis. I call upon those national leaders present here to get united to restore democracy and people\u2019s rights,\u201d Fakhrul said.<\/p>\n

Prior to the iftar, a munajat was offered seeking divine blessings for Khaleda\u2019s early recovery and her release from jail.<\/p>\n

Krishak Shramik Janata League President Abdul Kader Siddique, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal president ASM Abdur Rob, Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna and senior leaders of the BNP-led 20-party alliance joined the iftar.<\/p>\n

Apart from Fakhrul, BNP standing committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Moudud Ahmed, Jamiruddin Sircar, Mahbubur Rahman, Rafiqul Islam Miah, Mirza Abbas, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan and Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury were present.<\/p>\n<\/article>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
