The ace all-rounder who is busy in playing the IPL in India believed that Mashrafe\u2019s presence will come up as boost for the Bangladesh pace-attack which lacked penetration in the Test cricket. By saying so, he urged the team management to take a step to discuss with Mashrafe about his plan for the Test cricket, revealed Khaled Mahmud Sujon.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs we had talked to Shakib Al Hasan some days, he sought the service of Mashrafe in Test cricket. Specially after seeing him playing a game of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL), I also thought he may come up as a great help of our pace bowling attack,\u201d said Mahmud.<\/p>\n
Bangladesh Test bowling, specially pace bowling couldn\u2019t develop as a force as they earned the reputation in the ODI and T20 cricket. Mashrafe was in the forefront to give Bangladesh pace bowling attack a strength in those two versions.<\/p>\n
Question lingers on Mashrafe\u2019s fitness to play five-day cricket in demanding condition, something which the team management and selectors noted. But no one has reservation if Mashrafe decides to comeback in Test cricket, which he last played in 2009.<\/p>\n
Mashrafe injured his knee on the first day of the first Test against West Indies in that tour for which he for the first time was appointed as the captain. He was then sidelined and as of now did not give it a though to revive his Test career. He has just played four first class matches in these nine years.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat Shakib said that Mashrafe naturally can swing the ball in both ways. So he may bowl five or 10 overs with the new ball and it could come up as a great help for the team since Bangladesh still don\u2019t have a bowler of Mashrafe caliber, who can expertly use the shine of the new ball, in the longer version format,\u201d Mahmud said.<\/p>\n
\u201cShakib also believes Mashrafe is able to bowl 15 or 20 overs for the team in a day and it\u2019s enough. Basically his experience what Bangladesh needs in the Test cricket. Like Shakib, I also think so,\u201d Mahmud revealed.<\/p>\n
Mashrafe however is yet to disclose anything over his Test future even though people like to see him in the longer version once again.<\/p>\n
Before his participation in a BCL game recently, Mashrafe said he has no plan to comeback in Test cricket right at the moment and he is playing the game in a bid to just assess his current condition. Mashrafe has bowled 10 overs in the match and took one wicket but didn\u2019t play the game as seriously as he should be, witness said.<\/p>\n
