{"id":42972,"date":"2018-04-06T06:22:15","date_gmt":"2018-04-06T06:22:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/?p=42972"},"modified":"2018-04-06T06:22:15","modified_gmt":"2018-04-06T06:22:15","slug":"15-graft-cases-against-mirza-abbas-others-to-continue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/?p=42972","title":{"rendered":"15 graft cases against Mirza Abbas, others to continue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img class=\"wp-image-42973 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/daily_sun_BNP_leader-Mirza_Abbas_picture-300x188.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"822\" height=\"515\" srcset=\"https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/daily_sun_BNP_leader-Mirza_Abbas_picture-300x188.jpg 300w, https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/daily_sun_BNP_leader-Mirza_Abbas_picture.jpg 643w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 822px) 100vw, 822px\" \/>Dhaka: The High Court on Thursday dismissed 15 revision petitions against as many corruption cases filed against former BNP Housing and Public Works Minister Mirza Abbas and others on charges of selling 18 abandoned government houses on fake auction.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">A bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice Krishna Debnath rejected the revision petitions filed by the accused in 2017 challenging the proceedings of the cases.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The fresh order cleared the way for the lower court to continue the trial proceedings of the 15 corruption cases filed against them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Anti-Corruption Commission's lawyer Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan said the HC earlier had stayed the trial proceedings of the cases in 2017.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">He said the ACC on March 29, 2007 filed a first information report (FIR) with Motijheel Police Station against 12 people, including Mirza Abbas and a number of high officials of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) and Power Development Board (PWD).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The accused in connivance with each other sold 18 abandoned government houses on a fake auction at prices much lower than the market price, according to the FIR.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In 2007, Dhaka Special Judge Court -3 framed charges against 21 people, including Abbas, in the 15 cases.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dhaka: The High Court on Thursday dismissed 15 revision petitions against as many corruption cases filed against former BNP Housing and Public Works Minister Mirza Abbas and others on charges of selling 18 abandoned government houses on fake auction.
