{"id":42935,"date":"2018-04-05T07:17:43","date_gmt":"2018-04-05T07:17:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/?p=42935"},"modified":"2018-04-05T07:17:43","modified_gmt":"2018-04-05T07:17:43","slug":"zia-charitable-trust-case-khaledas-bail-extended-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/?p=42935","title":{"rendered":"Zia Charitable Trust case: Khaleda\u2019s bail extended again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img class=\"wp-image-42936 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/1508359568_0-300x192.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"909\" height=\"582\" srcset=\"https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/1508359568_0-300x192.jpg 300w, https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/1508359568_0-696x446.jpg 696w, https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/1508359568_0-655x420.jpg 655w, https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/1508359568_0.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 909px) 100vw, 909px\" \/>Dhaka: A Dhaka court has extended until April 22 the bail of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the Zia Charitable Trust graft case, UNB reports.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Judge Md Akhteruzzaman of the Special Judge Court-5 passed the order on Thursday following a petition filed by the BNP chief\u2019s lawyers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">However, the BNP chairperson was not produced before the court from jail on Thursday as she was ill, said her lawyer Md Sanaullah Miah.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">However, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lawyer Mosharraf Hossain Kajal filed a petition seeking to continue the hearing of the case through video conference as the BNP Chairperson was ill.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Earlier on March 28, the same court extended until April 5 the bail of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the graft case.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The court order came after the ACC had appealed to it, saying it was not possible to continue arguments in the case without the presence of Khaleda Zia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">On March 13, the court had ordered the jail authorities to produce Khaleda Zia before it on March 28 and 29 for hearing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">On August 8, 2011, the ACC filed the Zia Charitable Trust graft case with Tejgaon Police Station accusing four people, including Khaleda Zia, of abusing power in raising funds for the trust from unknown sources.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The same court on February 8 last convicted the former prime minister and BNP chairperson and sentenced her to five years' imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dhaka: A Dhaka court has extended until April 22 the bail of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the Zia Charitable Trust graft case, UNB reports.
