{"id":41556,"date":"2018-02-25T08:57:32","date_gmt":"2018-02-25T08:57:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/?p=41556"},"modified":"2018-02-25T08:57:32","modified_gmt":"2018-02-25T08:57:32","slug":"hearing-on-khaledas-bail-plea-begins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/?p=41556","title":{"rendered":"Hearing on Khaleda\u2019s bail plea begins"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img class=\"wp-image-41557 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/khaleda420180213172153-300x176.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"757\" height=\"444\" srcset=\"https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/khaleda420180213172153-300x176.jpg 300w, https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/khaleda420180213172153-696x408.jpg 696w, https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/khaleda420180213172153-716x420.jpg 716w, https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/khaleda420180213172153.jpg 725w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 757px) 100vw, 757px\" \/>Dhaka: The High Court is hearing a petition filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia seeking bail in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Shahidul Karim has began to hear the petition from 2:00pm.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Earlier on Thursday, the same bench set the today after Khaleda\u2019s lawyers filed the bail prayer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The court had also accepted for hearing another petition of the BNP chief filed challenging the trial court verdict sentencing her to five years\u2019 imprisonment in the case and stayed the fine of Tk 2.10 crore slapped by the lawyer court on her.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">It had asked the lower court to submit all the documents relating to the judgment before it within 15 days.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Barrister Nowshad Jamir and Barrister Kaiser Kamal, on behalf of the BNP chief, had submitted the 880-page bail petition in the morning showing 31 grounds for granting her bail.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">On Tuesday, lawyers of the BNP chairperson filed an appeal with the High Court challenging her sentence in the graft case.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">On February 8 last, the Dhaka Special Court-5 convicted the former Prime Minister and BNP chairperson and sentenced her to five years\u2019 imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">She was then sent to old central jail at Nazimuddin Road in the city.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dhaka: The High Court is hearing a petition filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia seeking bail in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
