“The world recognition to Bangladesh as a role model of development\u00a0didn't come without any cause behind it. It became possible as the country is\u00a0under the patriotic and dedicated leadership of Awami League,” she said.<\/p>\n
The prime minister was speaking in a reminiscence meeting organized by\u00a0Bangladesh Chhatra League marking 42nd martyrdom anniversary of the Father of\u00a0the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Krishibid Institute\u00a0auditorium here today.<\/p>\n
Sheikh Hasina said once Bangladesh was known as the land of flood, water\u00a0surge, poverty and hunger, where people had no hope and future.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, the post 1975 rulers presented Bangladesh before the world\u00a0community in that manner.<\/p>\n
After 21 years Bangladesh Awami League assumed power and had taken the\u00a0initiative to erase the bad name, taking various pragmatic steps for\u00a0country's development in all sectors, she said.<\/p>\n
Sheikh Hasina said the lessons that she had learnt from her parents to\u00a0love the people, work for country's welfare as well as taking risk for the\u00a0country, always guided her to serve the nation.<\/p>\n
She said the killers of Bangabandhu never thought that the followers of\u00a0Bangabandhu would come to power again. But the people made it happen after 21\u00a0years of Bangabandhu's murder. Love for the people is very indispensible for\u00a0a politician, she said.<\/p>\n
Sheikh Hasina said her party always tried to do better for the people.<\/p>\n
Awami League leaders and workers always stand beside the people in their any\u00a0woes. Serving the mankind in any situation is their prime objective, she\u00a0said.<\/p>\n
Focusing on the outcome of the August 15, 1975 carnage in the country's\u00a0history the prime minister said, “We have lost everything on that day pushing\u00a0Bangladesh to an era of darkness. Rule of militancy and terrorism gained\u00a0ground after the killing.<\/p>\n
She said politics is for the welfare of the people, not for perishing\u00a0people.<\/p>\n
But a section of politicians have burnt people alive in 2013, 2014\u00a0and 2015 to achieve their conspiracies.<\/p>\n
“We are moving ahead overcoming those conspiracies and serving the\u00a0country for three terms in power with the support of the people,” she said.<\/p>\n
Sheikh Hasina said Father of the Nation is no more amongst us. But we\u00a0have his ideology, which should be our guiding principles in politics.<\/p>\n
Urging the Chhatra League leaders and workers to know about the ideology\u00a0of Bangabandhu the prime minister said, Bangabandhu used to tell that the\u00a0history of Chhatra League is the history of Bangladesh.<\/p>\n
“So, Chhatra League leaders and workers should never forget this.\u00a0Chhatra League leaders and workers must work for promotion of the three\u00a0principles of the organization- education, peace and progressiveness,” she\u00a0said.<\/p>\n
Sheikh Hasina said Chhatra League leaders must be well educated, prudent\u00a0and judicious which is very crucial for taking the future leadership of the\u00a0country.<\/p>\n
“We have seen how a country may suffer when uneducated leaders rule the\u00a0country,” she said, adding that ignorant leaders can burn people alive,\u00a0indulge corruption, launder money and amass wealth illegally.<\/p>\n
The prime minister said progress of a nation is not possible without\u00a0peace. So, we always want peace to take forward the country towards progress\u00a0gradually.<\/p>\n
She urged the Chhatra League leaders to take oath to build Bangladesh as\u00a0a developed and prosperous country as dreamt by Bangabandhu.bss.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
