The soldiers were not seriously hurt in the attack; one had a facial wound and the other\u2019s hand was wounded.<\/p>\n<div id=\"video-wwwreuterscomassetsiframeyovideovideoId372400257\" class=\"arve-wrapper\" data-mode=\"normal\" data-provider=\"iframe\">\n<div class=\"arve-embed-container\"><iframe class=\"arve-iframe fitvidsignore\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/assets\/iframe\/yovideo?videoId=372400257&ap=0&autoplay=0&autoStart=false&player_autoStart=false\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Prosecutors said the man, who was not known for terrorist activities, had twice shouted Allahu Akbar during the attack, which occurred at around 8:15pm local time just outside the city\u2019s central pedestrian zone while the soldiers were on patrol.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The case passed from local to federal prosecutors, who typically handle terrorist cases. A spokeswoman for the prosecution service said they were treating the case as one of attempted terrorist murder.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Brussels mayor Philip Close said the alert status, already just one off the maximum level, had not been increased.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cInitial indications are \u2026 that it is an isolated attack, a single person,\u201d Close told reporters beside a street blocked by police.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Soldiers routinely patrol the streets of the Belgian capital due to a heightened security alert level after Islamist shooting and bomb attacks in Paris in 2015 and Brussels in 2016.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In June, troops shot dead a suspected suicide bomber at Brussels\u2019 central train station. There were no other casualties.
