{"id":34922,"date":"2017-07-16T05:56:01","date_gmt":"2017-07-16T05:56:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/?p=34922"},"modified":"2017-07-16T05:56:30","modified_gmt":"2017-07-16T05:56:30","slug":"france-aims-to-be-facilitator-in-gulf-crisis-talks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/?p=34922","title":{"rendered":"France aims to be \u2018facilitator\u2019 in Gulf crisis talks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img class=\"wp-image-34925 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/France-aims-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"France-aims\" width=\"852\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/France-aims-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/France-aims-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/France-aims-696x392.jpg 696w, https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/France-aims-747x420.jpg 747w, https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/France-aims.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 852px) 100vw, 852px\" \/>DOHA: French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said in Doha on Saturday that Paris wants to assist Kuwait-led mediation on the crisis between Qatar and four other Arab states, reports AFP.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">&#8220;France should be a facilitator in the mediation&#8221; led by Kuwait, Le Drian told reporters following talks with his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Le Drian flew in to Qatar at the start of a Gulf tour aimed at helping defuse the crisis pitting Qatar against Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain and Egypt.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">&#8220;France is very concerned by the sudden deterioration in relations between Qatar and many of its neighbours,&#8221; said Le Drian, who also met with the emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">&#8220;France is talking to all these countries to help in the search for a solution,&#8221; he said, calling for &#8220;dialogue and calm&#8221; between the Arab states concerned.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Le Drian is to travel on to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the UAE, following a four-day mediation mission by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson that ended on Thursday without any announcement of progress towards defusing mounting tensions in the Gulf.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Qatar's foreign minister welcomed France's support for mediation aimed at finding a solution &#8220;based on constructive dialogue&#8230; and respect of state sovereignty and international law&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">&#8220;We look forward to France's support of the Kuwaiti mediation and American efforts,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Riyadh and its allies imposed sanctions on Doha on June 5, including closing its only land border, denying Qatar access to their airspace and ordering their citizens back from the emirate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">They accuse Doha of supporting extremism and being too close to their arch-rival Iran.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DOHA: French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said in Doha on Saturday that Paris wants to assist Kuwait-led mediation on the crisis between Qatar and four other Arab states, reports AFP. &#8220;France should be a facilitator in the mediation&#8221; led by Kuwait, Le Drian told reporters following talks with his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":7,"featured_media":34925,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[14],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v16.5 -
