Law enforcers have concluded their raid at a suspected militant hideout in Kushtia\u2019s Bheramara upazila on Saturday night, nearly 22 hours after they cordoned it off.<\/div>\n

Khulna range Additional DIG Habibur Rahman officially announced the conclusion of the operation around 9pm at a press briefing.<\/p>\n

Talking to reporters at the briefing, Habibur Rahman said the operation started around 5:45pm.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe bomb disposal unit recovered an explosive device weighing around 10 kilogrammes from the house which the militants\u00a0rented in November last year,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crimes unit Abdul Mannan confirmed the Dhaka Tribune that the raid will begin as soon as the members of the bomb disposal unit arrive at the scene from Dhaka.<\/p>\n

Police arrested three suspected female militants along with suicide vests, gun powder and pistol during the drive.<\/p>\n

Two of the detainees are Tithi, wife of New JMB chief Ayub Ali alias Sajib and Sumaiya, wife of second-in-command of New JMB.<\/p>\n

Talking to the Dhaka Tribune in the afternoon, Kushtia Police Superintendent SM Mehedi Hasan said acting on a tip-off, the joint force of\u00a0Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit, Kushtia police and Detective Branch of police cordoned off the tin-shed house near Taltola mosque in Bamonpara area under the upazila early Saturday.<\/p>\n

Soon after the raid kicked off, a female militant had tried to detonate an explosive vest wrapped around her body. Fortunately she was apprehended before something untoward incident takes place,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Later police detained two more female militants with two children from the hideout.<\/p>\n

Nasima Khatun, the house owner, said the suspected militants rented the house\u00a0in November last year.<\/p>\n
