I was also removed with only the clothes I had on from the house I had lived in for 40 years.'<\/h2>\n<div class=\"fb-quote fb_iframe_widget\" style=\"text-align: left;\">BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday said people will one day evict ruling party men from their houses the way she and her party\u2019s senior leader Moudud Ahmed had been evicted on Wednesday.<\/div>\n<div class=\"fb-quote fb_iframe_widget\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"text\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Earlier in the day, Rajdhahi Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) on Wednesday took over BNP standing committee member Moudud Ahmed\u2019s Gulshan house following a court order.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">As per a Supreme Court verdict, Khaleda Zia had to vacate her house inside the Dhaka Cantonment area where she had been living for 38 years. After the assassination of her husband Ziaur Rahman in 1981, the then army chief HM Ershad had allotted her the 2.72-acre house at a token price.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Speaking at an iftar party she further said: \u201cPeople have seen how they (Awami League men) grabbed houses. So, people will one day evict them from their houses. They are thinking they will stay fine, but people will not let it happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cMoudud Ahmed was driven out to the street from the house he had been residing for over 30 years. I was also removed with only the clothes I had on from the house I had lived in for 40 years,\u201d she said, reports UNB.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fb-quote fb_iframe_widget\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Association of Engineers, Bangladesh organised the party at Bashundhara International Convention Centre.<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">On Sunday, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court dismissed two petitions filed seeking a review against the Supreme Court verdict that scrapped Moudud\u2019s possession of a house at holding No 159 in Gulshan 2 area of the capital.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Khaleda said her party men are now helpless as they do not get justice from the court though they are being oppressed and harassed.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fbnpbd.org%2Fposts%2F1331015623621058%3A0&width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"482\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">She said the lower court now acts as a government stooge.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cThe lower court is now completely under government control.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">She said though the country\u2019s people have been passing through a critical time for the soaring prices of essentials and lack of jobs, the government has no attention to mitigate their sufferings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">About the proposed budget for 2017-18 fiscal year, Khaleda said the ruling party men will be benefited by the budget while the common people will be badly affected.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Claiming that the country\u2019s people want a change in power, she said the next election must be held under a non-party administration to establish a pro-people government.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cThe election must not be held under Hasina. All political parties will not join the election if it is held under her. The Election Commission will not\u00a0be able to work neutrally under her. That\u2019s why it is necessary to arrange the election ousting Hasina,\u201d the BNP chief said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Khaleda also urged the Election Commission to work neutrally for holding a fair election as per people\u2019s hopes and aspirations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee members Mosharraf Hossain, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, vice chairmen Selima Rahman, advocate Khandaker Mahbub Hossian, Ahmed Azam Khan, Prof Abdul Mannan and Dr AZM Zahid attended the programme,\u00a0among others.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8216;Moudud Ahmed was driven out to the street from the house he had been residing for over 30 years.
