Former British prime minister David Cameron has expressed firm optimism that the bilateral relations between the United Kingdom and Bangladesh would continue to grow.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere would be no change in this relationship due to Brexit,\u201d Cameron made the remark while paying a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official Gana Bhaban residence in Dhaka on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are win-win relations between the two countries and the ties would continue to grow,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

PM\u2019s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting, reports BSS.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina put emphasis on resolving the issue of cargo plane embargo from Bangladesh and said a British company has been appointed for security management of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.<\/p>\n

In this connection, Cameron expressed the hope that the problem of cargo plane ban from Bangladesh would be solved soon.<\/p>\n

While talking about the trade relations with Bangladesh, Cameron said the British investors are coming to Bangladesh for making the investment.<\/p>\n

The former British prime minister offered training to the Bangladeshi workers on managerial skill, design and entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n

He also mentioned the big contributions of Bangladeshi diaspora to the UK\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n

The former British prime minister highly appreciated Bangladesh\u2019s success in socioeconomic development under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.<\/p>\n

\u201cBangladesh is nearing the achievement of the status of a middle-income country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Sheikh Hasina said her party had been preparing economic and other policies for the speedy development of the country and accordingly the government is implementing the policies.<\/p>\n

She also highlighted government\u2019s stunning success in agriculture, food security, women empowerment and digitisation.<\/p>\n

PM Hasina said: \u201cThe government is setting up 100 economic zones across the country for further industrialisation and generating employment, and facilities like electricity and gas are being ensured in these zones.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier, Cameron arrived in Dhaka around 10pm Wednesday on a Thai Airways flight on a whirlwind maiden visit.<\/p>\n

He will join a roundtable of International Growth Centre (IGC), a UK-based organisation working in promoting sustainable growth in developing countries by providing demand-led policy advice based on frontier research.<\/p>\n

He is currently holding the post of chairman of IGC.<\/p>\n

Cameron, who was prime minister of Britain from 2010-2016, will also pay a visit to a DFID-funded project and a garment factory here.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
