Dhaka desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today\u00a0inaugurated the “grand musical dancing fountain” and amphitheater at\u00a0Hatirjheel, a popular recreational spot of Dhaka, describing the twin\u00a0establishments as Bangla Nababarsha 1424 gifts to the city dwellers and the\u00a0countrymen.<\/p>\n
The amphitheater and the largest musical dancing fountain in South Asia,\u00a0with capacity of 2000 audience, have been constructed on the water of\u00a0Hatirjheel lake to give a new facelift to the Hatirjheel project.<\/p>\n
Bangladesh Army's Special Works Organization (SWO-West) implemented the\u00a0project with the patronization of Housing and Public Works Ministry, Rajdhani\u00a0Unnayan Katripakhya (RAJUK) and Dhaka WASA.<\/p>\n
Inaugurating the two establishments through videoconferencing from\u00a0Ganabhaban, the prime minister urged the people to keep the project area neat\u00a0and clean. “I would like to request the people who would visit the area not\u00a0to throw wastes like empty water bottles, papers into the water of the lake,”\u00a0she said.<\/p>\n
Sheikh Hasina said a huge number of city dwellers alongside local and\u00a0foreign tourists would be able to enjoy the beauty of the fountain in an\u00a0unique environment after visiting the Hatirjheel site.<\/p>\n
Chief of Army Staff General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Haque spoke at the\u00a0function.<\/p>\n
Project Director Major General Abu Sayeed Mohammad Masud highlighted\u00a0various key features of the fountain and amphitheater through power point\u00a0presentation.<\/p>\n
Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain,Agriculture\u00a0Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury and LGRD Minister Engineer Khandakar Mosharraf\u00a0Hossain were present on the dais.<\/p>\n
Narrating attractive features of amphitheatre, the project director said\u00a0the amphitheatre would be looking like flower with petals due to its eye-\u00a0catching construction technic, circular structure and very beautiful colour\u00a0design.<\/p>\n
Besides, a 120-meter-long colourful fountain has also been constructed\u00a0there and such a structure would create an environment of floating stage on\u00a0the water in the minds of the audience.<\/p>\n
This colorful fountain has time-controlled sound wave and musical track\u00a0which created a tri-dimensional structure.<\/p>\n
The Hatirjheel project has been implemented from the Bengunbari Khal,\u00a0southern part of the Hotel Sonargaon, and at the middle point of Rampura\u00a0Bridge after going through Tongi Diversion Road.<\/p>\n
The project area has been increased to 311.79 acres from the existing\u00a0244.74 acres while some 8.80 kilometer service road and some 8.80 kilometer\u00a0expressway have been constructed under this project.<\/p>\n
Besides, two water taxi terminals and four deep tube wells were also set up\u00a0under the Hatirjheel project.<\/p>\n
Under the project, four bridges, three viaducts, four overpasses, 8.80\u00a0kilometer footpaths, 9.80 kilometer walkway, one children park, 13 viewing\u00a0decks would be constructed.<\/p>\n
