A woman described as \u201cerratic and aggressive\u201d drove a vehicle into a US Capitol Police cruiser near the Capitol on Wednesday morning and was taken into custody, police said.<\/p>\n

Shots were fired during the arrest attempt, but the incident appeared to be criminal in nature with \u201cno nexus to terrorism,\u201d said Capitol Police spokeswoman Eva Malecki. No one was injured. She said the US Capitol remained open.<\/p>\n

Malecki described the woman as an \u201cerratic and aggressive driver.\u201d As police attempted to stop her, she made a U-turn and fled, nearly striking officers and striking at least one other vehicle, Malecki said. A brief pursuit followed before the woman was stopped.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred near the US Botanic Garden. Malecki said shots were fired \u201cduring the attempt to arrest the suspect,\u201d but she declined to say how many shots were fired or to elaborate further.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not going to get into that right now,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
