\"dhaka3\"Sports desk: A ruthless Dhaka Dynamites whacked Rajshahi Kings by 56 runs, showing a gritty resolve to clinch the title of BPL-4 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital yesterday.<\/p>\n

This was the third time they achieved the feat of clinching the title of the country\u2019s most glamorous tournament. The side won the title on first two occasions under the name of Dhaka Gladiators.<\/p>\n

A good bowling effort complemented by electrifying fielding, albeit some hiccups, led Dhaka Dynamites to the title in an emphatic fashion. Dhaka indeed won the crucial moments that was required to tighten the noose of the game.<\/p>\n

The win sparked a wild celebration in Dhaka tent as the players gave a victory lap around the stadium to show gratitude towards their adorable fans who turned up in abundance.
\nOpener Evin Lewis smashed a 31-ball 45 as Dhaka Dynamites compiled 159 for nine. The total, however, was 20 runs short than the anticipation given the start by Leiws who effortlessly hit the bowlers around the park. It could have been more frustrating had Kumar Sangakkara not held together the innings.<\/p>\n

Sangakkara\u2019s 33-ball 36 was the key in steering the side past 150, which at one phase looked distant dream following the quick fall of wickets halfway through the innings. The bowlers then bowled in disciplined manner to hold Rajshahi back at 103 for nine with Kesrick Williams retiring hurt following an injury.<\/p>\n

Sangakkara brought up all his experience in the most crucial juncture of the game and played some improvised shots against a brilliant Rajshahi bowling to help the side amass 28 runs in the last two overs. This was what proved to be decisive at the end and brought him the honours of \u2018player of the final\u2019.<\/p>\n

Captain Darren Sammy\u2019s decision to put Dhaka in batting was justified by his bowlers preciously when they made the ruthless opponent three down for 42 in seven overs with Mehedi Maruf (8), Nasir Hossain (5) and Mosaddek Hossain Saikat (5) falling for single digit figures. Lewis helped the side claw back with a flurry of boundaries, aided by Sangakkara who kept one end intact, showing an immense composure.<\/p>\n

Farhad Reza who bowled brilliantly with the new ball reaped a reward in his second spell as he got rid of Lewis. After getting him completely set and looked determined to get a big score, Lewis was undone by an ordinary delivery. He sent the ball across the rope for eight times during his knock.<\/p>\n

Dwayne Bravo was run out for 13 to help Rajshahi get back to the match. But the Kings left Dynamites in troublesome situation with the wicket of big hitter Andre Russell. Again it was Farhad Reza whose brilliant catch gave the side an upper hand.<\/p>\n

Russell miscued one off Samit Patel but generated enough power to clear the boundary.<\/p>\n

However, Reza resisted. He ran across to his left and got hold to the ball, but the momentum was carrying him over the ropes. He threw the ball back into play, got back in time and dived forward to grab it finally.<\/p>\n

Russell\u2019s dismissal brought a pin drop silence in the packed stadium, largely dominated by the Dhaka fans who almost made the stadium covered in blue.<\/p>\n

Shakib Al Hasan again failed to shine with his bat, scoring just 12 as Rajshahi kept making inroads. However Sangakkara\u2019s calmness helped the side reach a safe zone. Farhad Reza was the most successful bowlers with three for 28. Despite losing opener Nurul Hasan Sohan (5) cheaply, Rajshahi was in utter control of the game, courtesy to Mominul Haque and Sabbir Rahman.<\/p>\n

Dhaka\u2019s bowling at this stage was wayward, allowing them to nicely set in on the crease. However, once Rajshahi sneaked a chance, Dhaka bowlers put pressure on the duo by delivering some tight overs thanks to Sanzamul Islam and Shakib Al Hasan.<\/p>\n

And the pressure got better of Sabbir who himself led to his run out dismissal as Mehedi Maruf threw a direct hit from mid off to leave Sabbir few inches short from the crease, bringing an end to the 47-run partnership. Sabbir scored 26.<\/p>\n

Sabbir\u2019s dismissal sparked a brisk collapse as Rajshahi lost eight wickets for 41 runs.<\/p>\n

Shakib Al Hasan was rewarded for his good bowling with the wicket of Mominul who made 27 and Sanzamul sliced the middle order with the wickets of James Franklin (5) and Samit Patel (17) in consecutive overs. In between, Shakib got his opposite number Darren Sammy (6) to shatter the slimmest hope of Rajshahi. Shakib ended with two for 30 to be the highest wicket-taker of the BPL history, eclipsing Kevon Cooper\u2019s haul 60. Abu Jayed and Sanzamul Islam also took two apiece in an effort of measly bowling.<\/p>\n

Mahmudullah Riyad, captain of Khulna Titans, was adjudged \u2018player of the tournament\u2019.
\nEarlier in the day, rock superstar James performed live at the stadium before the games rolled on to the ground.
