{"id":27232,"date":"2016-08-22T19:15:38","date_gmt":"2016-08-22T19:15:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/?p=27232"},"modified":"2016-08-22T19:15:53","modified_gmt":"2016-08-22T19:15:53","slug":"clinton-must-give-written-testimony-in-e-mail-case-us-judge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/?p=27232","title":{"rendered":"Clinton must give written testimony in e-mail case: US judge"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6 class=\"NTd\">WASHINGTON, Aug 20, 2016 (BSS\/AFP) &#8211; A federal judge has ruled that<br \/>\nDemocrat Hillary Clinton must respond in writing in a lawsuit over her use of a priv<img class=\" wp-image-27233 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/rsz_yh_31615_a-300x150.jpg\" alt=\"rsz_yh_31615_a\" width=\"460\" height=\"230\" srcset=\"https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/rsz_yh_31615_a-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/rsz_yh_31615_a-768x384.jpg 768w, https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/rsz_yh_31615_a-696x348.jpg 696w, https:\/\/en.bornomalanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/rsz_yh_31615_a.jpg 820w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 460px) 100vw, 460px\" \/>ate e-mail server while she was secretary of state.<\/h6>\n<p>In a two-page ruling issued on Friday, Judge Emmet Sullivan declined to order Clinton to testify in person in a case brought by the conservative group Judicial Watch.<\/p>\n<p>The Democratic presidential candidate has 30 days to respond to Judicial Watch's questions over her use of an unauthorized server while she was the top US diplomat, the ruling reads.<\/p>\n<p>In early July, US Attorney General Loretta Lynch said no charges would be brought against Clinton for using the private email server.<\/p>\n<p>FBI Director James Comey however said that while there was no clear<br \/>\nevidence that Clinton and her aides intended to violate secrecy laws, &#8220;there is information that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly-classified information.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Clinton has apologized for exclusively using the private email account and her own server during her time as secretary of state from 2009 to 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Opponents argue that this breached rules about protecting classified<br \/>\ndocuments from cyber attack and may have amounted to a crime.<\/p>\n<p>The Judicial Watch lawsuit threatens to keep the e-mail controversy alive for the weeks leading up to the November 8 presidential election.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WASHINGTON, Aug 20, 2016 (BSS\/AFP) &#8211; A federal judge has ruled that Democrat Hillary Clinton must respond in writing in a lawsuit over her use of a private e-mail server while she was secretary of state.
